First tell me why you think you need a processor upgrade to run Jaguar (or Panther, which is what you should be running). I've seen Panther and Jag running on iMacs slower and faster than yours with no problems. Yeah, I could just get a new eMac (G4/1GHz) for $800... but that's a few hundred bucks I just don't have right now... not to mention that I *like* my grape iMac.
Then I'd suggest you max out the RAM and replace the stock HD with a 120GB (that's the largest that machine will see), 8MB cache, 7200RPM drive. The difference will be dramatic.
