I have the same configuration, and I've had NO problem on my blueberry 
400 DV slot loading 1g ram.  I don't even know what it means to repair 
permissions.  If I did that, I don't remember doing it.

I will tell you that I inherited an occasionally-buggy iMac whose 
previous owner was eleven.  Because of that, I first backed everything 
up, then reinitialized the hard drive, installed 9.2.1,  and installed 
Panther.

Matt, there's apparently some other issue going on.
