I've heard conflicting things about G3 processors running Mac OS X, but was advised by a Mac reseller that at least a G3 350MHz processor plus 256Mb RAM is required to run Mac OS X properly. I had a play with one of his iMac 350's that was running Panther and it performed fine. Also the earlier iMacs like my 233, up to the 333's (revisions A - D) all use a 66MHz memory speed where as the later 350 and faster use 100MHz memory, so I suspect that this may be another reason why Mac OS X doesn't run as well on the slower G3's. I have just upgraded my 233 a NewerTech iMAX Powr 466MHz processor card, so I will keep you all posted when I load Panther. So nothing daunting in terms of heavy applications. Panther runs fine. Faster than 10.2.8 and no problems except those Pref. windows.
