On my iBook SE 466, I went from 192MB to 320MB when running Jaguar, and the speed bump was very very noticable. I still have too many swap-files created on it though(routinely 1 GB), and when I got an iMac 17"(800) later, I got 512 MB, as I thought that was a lot :-). That seems to run okay, but when running a large number of apps, I find that it is getting too slow too, even though Apple's VM is performing very well, so when I got my brand new AlBook 15" a couple of weeks ago, I got a full gigabyte with it, and it performs acceptable, although it is pretty easy for me to run out of physical RAM-space anyway. At the moment I have 2GB worth of swapfiles, and I only have a few *cough* apps running. I guess more is always better :-)
But do get the extra 512 MB RAM. 256 does not cut it, given the needs of OSX. Cheers, Kim On 01/04/04 2:55, "Moulton, Pete" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Kim > Thanks for the advice.
