I am on dial-up internet access (for a few more weeks before we go DSL). Our ISP has been experimenting with dial-up accelerators. The one they are testing for Mac OS X clients is called SlipStream. I downloaded the SlipStream Accelerator. I found it to not really be faster than what I already was experiencing. Before I loaded it, screens would slowly load item by item. With SlipStream, the screen would stay blank for much longer, then quickly load everything. All in all, I think it probably took the same amount of time. I also found that if SlipStream wasn't active, I could NOT browse the internet. I could send and receive e-mail, but I could not surf the web.

Today I dragged SlipStream to the trash and emptied it. Now I cannot browse the internet. I can send and receive e-mail. It's as if I still have SlipStream, just not active. Do you have any suggestions? I have also sent this info to my ISP. I use Safari and Mail. I'm on an iMac DV 400, 1 GB RAM.

Thanks,
Claire
