I have a 7200 RPM 60 GB Quantum drive in my iMac DV SE (400 MHz Graphite Slot load). The drive has worked fine since I installed it. I put the drive in maybe a year after I got the iMac (late 1999, so I installed the drive maybe mid or late 2000). I've had no problems that I can say are due to the drive. HOWEVER, in the last year, the iMac has developed a heat problem. It overheats and shuts off. It took me a while to track the issue, but it definitly is heat related. It has gotten worse more recently. So far, for at least the last few days, I've been ok. (I removed the handle from the top which now leaves more vent space, and so far, knock on wood, its beek ok. It also ran fine for a few weeks without the top cover on, and the problem came back as soon as I replaced the top cover. That lead me to removing the handle, and if the problem comes back again, I'm going to install a fan). I can't say that my heat problems are due to the drive or not. It ran fine for 2+ years with the 7200 RPM drive.
