I have one in my iMacDV 400 SE slot loader, and it works fine. If you're talking the circuit city special, which expired today, it didn't have an 8MB cache, which the maxtor I have in mine, does. don't know how critical that is, but others might chime in. I have an 80GB in my starmax (4400/200), which is about as old as the 5400 I think and have had no problem with it either.

Hi,

Has anyone on the list had troubles using a 7200rpm drive in an iMac DV (G3
Slot Loader)?

40gb's are on sale for the weekend and I wanted to upgrade. Also I know it
doesn't have anything to do with this particular list but has anyone
installed the same drive (7200rpm) in a 5400/180. It will accept an IDE
drice but I wasn't sure about the heat issues with this older mac as I am
not sure about the above iMac.

Thanks.
