My Imac 233 (NewerTech 466 Upgrade card) has a 20GB Seagate Barracude
7200 rpm drive in it, and I haven't noticed any unusual behaviour or
heat, but then it is quieter and slightly faster than the Western
Digital 4GB 5400 rpm that originally came with the machine.

Subject: 7200rpm dirve

Hi,

Has anyone on the list had troubles using a 7200rpm drive in an iMac DV
(G3 Slot Loader)?

40gb's are on sale for the weekend and I wanted to upgrade. Also I know
it doesn't have anything to do with this particular list but has anyone
installed the same drive (7200rpm) in a 5400/180. It will accept an IDE
drice but I wasn't sure about the heat issues with this older mac as I
am not sure about the above iMac.

Thanks.
