My Imac 233 (NewerTech 466 Upgrade card) has a 20GB Seagate Barracude 7200 rpm drive in it, and I haven't noticed any unusual behaviour or heat, but then it is quieter and slightly faster than the Western Digital 4GB 5400 rpm that originally came with the machine. Pete
