I want to put a HD (IDE) firewire but external into a G5 Mac (put out the drive and mount into the G5.
Is this possible ?
IDE , ATA drives, is there a different ?
There is no compatibility problems between conventional IDE an ATA 33, ATA 66, ATA 100 and ATA 133 - all will work on modern IDE systems. However, the G5 uses Serial ATA (SATA 150) which is a very different standard of data cable. You can however buy adapter boards to plug IDE/ATA drives into SATA computers.
