I STILL can't post to this list on my home Imac, although I receive email. Last Friday at work, I logged onto my mail server via the web and was able to post to the list from there.
At home, I run apple's mail program on panther, G4 imac.
NOBODY else has ever had this problem? My mail is returned to me as undeliverable with the first paragraph saying:

"Failed to deliver to '<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>'
LIST module(list imac-list) reports:
 Your message cannot be posted.
 It has the content-type: multipart/alternative,
and this list accepts plain text only".

I went ahead and changed from rich text to plain text - but it doesn't matter. I still get that message saying that the list accepts rich text only??
what gives? I tried to ask my question to the "have questions about subscriptions" email, but no response.

I want to put a HD (IDE) firewire but external into a G5 Mac (put out
the drive and mount into the G5.
Is this possible ?

IDE , ATA drives, is there a different ?

There is no compatibility problems between conventional IDE an ATA 33, ATA 66, ATA 100 and ATA 133 - all will work on modern IDE systems. However, the G5 uses Serial ATA (SATA 150) which is a very different standard of data cable. You can however buy adapter boards to plug IDE/ATA drives into SATA computers.

Apple says that SATA to PATA adapters aren't supported in the G5s.

The G5s DO have a normal PATA bus for the optical drive, and it's possible
(though not pretty) to attach an ATA/IDE hard drive to that bus.

But come on, if you can afford a G5, you can almost certainly afford a nice
new SATA internal drive. Then just plug in the old external FireWire drive,
copy the stuff to the new internal drive, and give the old drive to a less
fortunate Mac user. Or sell it on eBay to recoup some of the cost of the new
drive.
