My summer classroom inherited an imac with OS X installed.
If you didn't get the CDs of OS X with that, it's an illegal copy and you should remove it.
It starts with an icon of the globe showing maps of North and South America flashing on the screen. This goes on for a couple of minutes
It's looking for a network boot drive. You can change this by selecting a new "startup disk" for it once you get that far.
I've used hardware diagnostic software, disk firs aid, apples software recovery and even clean installed system 9.2.2 but all to no avail. Any clues?
Yes.
1. Obtain legitimate Mac system software -- 9.x or 10.x doesn't matter. 2. Completely erase the hard drive. 3. Install a new system on it.
