Sure Panther will run fine on it. But just make sure you have AT LEAST 256MB ram. more is of course preferred but on the older machines, even though they meet the minimum requirements, They need that little extra RAM to make it run smooth. I've got Panther running on a B&W G3 / 450 OC'ed to 500MHz with 512MB Ram and it runs just fine! I've seen Panther running on a 266MHz iMac it wasn't pretty. The thing only had 64MB of ram.

Hi All,
I have a 1999 iMac DV SE 400mhz w/512m (not matched) Can I leap from 9.2.2
to Panther and pass up Jaguar entirely? I don't do graphic intensive stuff
or make movies or would even use garage band...just very simple stuff and
eBay selling. But, I just so dislike IE and Outlook Express and dearly want
to be rid of them and AOL.
I finally have DSL now and would like to enter the 21st century.
What do you all think.
Thanks,
Kate
