the new one? Is there any advantage to waiting for it? Any idea on the cost?

Apple has officially announced that there is a new iMac coming in September and it will have the G5 CPU. That being said the current iMac is a great computer, prices should be very good as they clean out the sales channels. The current 17" G4 is really, really, nice all in one computer. It will be at least as expensive as the current models, and likely more expensive. Unless you have a need for the latest programs that will take advantage of the 64 bit processing the G5 offers when Tiger comes along? Buy a current model you can use immediately.

Check the Apple special deals page for a refurbished current iMac. You will not be disappointed in it. Just add more RAM. Buy it elsewhere than Apple. Apple is very expensive for memory.
