I couldn't get OS X to work right on my revision D until I installed a larger hard drive -- I put in a 120-gig 7200 and it works fine.

Although I can understand 6GB being too small a space for general use, I don't think the symptoms here are indicative of it running out of space. It sounds hardware-ish to me. I've run OS X stably off 4GB SCSI units for extended lengths of time (as a server - 24/7) without issues so it is possible on a small drive only thing maybe i that the owner has piled a lot of Apps and data on there and the drive has not room for swap space, which will cause any UNIX OS to get very upset. Again tho this usually results in 'normal' lockups during use and Kernel Panics, not this sort of screen corruption and general illness.
