Hello Lars
Ni-cads are usually cheaper most are 1.2 volt per cell if you get a battery holder and connect 3 in series (+ to - ) you get 3.6 volt. You can use cheap penlite units. Also check out some cordless phone handset batteries as a lot of them are 3.6 volt. You could get away using the 3.0 volt battery but only for short time. The voltage would only have to drop say to about 2.8 volt before it would fail.

Hi everyone! Does anybody know whether the voltage on the backup battery (Lithium size 1/2AA - 3.6V) has to be 3.6V or could I do with a standard Photo battery, which is 3.0V ? Reason for asking is that the .6 version of the battery costs about twice as much as the best offer for Photo 3.0, and I feel like I am being ripped off when having to pay 16-17 USD for one small element ;-) Lars Harbo
