With vision problems, please take a good look, I mean LOOK, at the screen before you buy. Compare the sharpness of various resolutions on the LCD monitor with the available resolutions on a 21 inch CRT. Having the largest iMac screen does not mean that you will see larger type letters at the LCD monitor's default and sharpest setting. As I recall from looking at the various size LCD iMacs at the store, the type sizes, at the default resolution for each size monitor, were very much alike, meaning small. Only the real estate was different. For example, with the 17 inch screen at its default resolution, one can put two word processing or mail documents side by side with little or no overlap side to side. With the 15 inch screen, one sees the same documents with considerable overlap. And with the 20 inch screen, I would expect to see 2 and one half documents side by side. Perhaps the folks here with the 20 inch screen would verify this. When one selects a lower resolution setting on an LCD monitor in order to see larger type, the sharpness of the type suffers. This may be tolerable for you. On the other hand, when one selects a lower resolution on a CRT (tube) monitor, the type size gets larger without losing sharpness. This may be significant enough for you to buy a Mac that will support a CRT. -- Al Poulin Anger, hate, and revenge are for the devil, forgiveness is for God, proactive self-defense is for the rest of us. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
