Very buggy Panther on iMac G3 500

I installed Panther on a hard drive in my G4.  Then I pulled the HD out 
and put it in my iMac.  It works, but is very buggy.  I keep getting 
applications unexpectedly quitting, classic not working, and lock ups.  
Usually when it completely quits, I get black text boxes all over the 
desktop.  The beginning of the text says "System Failure CPU=0 
Code=00000007 (Unaligned Stack)".  It finally ends with "waiting  for 
remote debugger connection".  It worked fine for a couple of hours.  I 
even burned a couple of CD's with it.  But then ii flipped out.  I am 
wondering if it is getting too hot.  It feels pretty warm on top where 
the handle is.  Has anyone had a experience like this?  Any help is 
greatly appreciated.
