OK, folks, I've done it. I have placed my order for the new iMac. They won't
be shipping before Sept. 23rd, so I have time to do some reading. I am
jumping from OS 9.2 into Panther. Can anybody offer a suggestion for which
is the single best resource for a newbie jumping into OS X for the first
time, and that being the more advanced Panther? At the moment I am
considering Pogue's OS X: The Missing Manual, Panther edition or LeVitus's
Mac OS X Panther for Dummies.

They are both very good books, however, I rank David Pogue's book as number one for brand new OS X users. The man not only knows his subject he writes in a style that is fun to read. He just authored a new book specifically on moving from OS 9 to OS X Panther which is also a great book. You can read excerpts of both on the Missing Manual web site. http://www.missingmanuals.com/
