You've got this model <http://www.lowendmac.com/imacs/blue.shtml>? A discussion of various slot-loading iMac upgrades is here <http://www.lowendmac.com/imacs/slot-up.html>. I don't see any mention of trouble upgrading all the way to 1GB RAM. I do know there have been trouble upgrading some _tray-loading_ iMacs - some accept 256MB So-DIMMs, others won't. Very inconsistent and apparently no way to know beforehand.
