You're right to point out that all upgrades from 9.0 are free from Apple, though, and I appreciate you clarifying that for others who may not know.

What do you think about Apple's new policy of NOT including system disks with new computers? I just bought a new Powerbook, but it only came with "Restore" CDs. I feel that for $2000, I should get the System on a CD.
