If I'm following this thread correctly, here's what I did:
1. Hooked up digital video camera(DVC) to VCR or DVD player. You can even daisy chain DVD ---> VCR---> DVC without actually recording onto a VHS tape (I use an S-video connection)
2. Recorded from VCR to DVC
3. Plugged DVC into iMac, launched iMovie
4. Imported into iMovie
5. Exported file to Quicktime
6. Launched iTunes
7. Imported file and if needed I converted to Mp3

It is much simpler in practice than looking at the list!

D.B., if the DVD will play the music on your Mac, and iTunes won't recognize the music files, you could use something like "Wire Tap".

Wire Tap records any sound your computer makes, and turns it into a music file that iTunes can play.

Wire Tap can be found at:

Good luck, let us know what you end up doing.

Thanks for the info. I'll see what happens. But first, I have to FIND the VHS tape!
