how long did you let it sit before you decided it wasn't going to come on. Or did it power itself off after a few seconds? 15 seconds may not have been long enough to let it warm up, bring the drive up to speed, and do its full ram test and POST test. If you let it sit for a while, and it didn't power itself off, did you hear the drive clicking? Did it sound like it was booting and was simply not displaying anything? I forget which model you said this was. If it is a slot load, are there firewire ports on the side with the USB? If so, there should be a removable panel on the back of the iMac (smallish panel with lots of vent holes in it). Behind that panel should be a VGA connector. You can try plugging a standard PC monitor into it and see if you get video. If this is a tray load, you will have to remove part of the case, and you should find an RGB connector that has the internal CRT connected to it. You can disconnect that and plug another RGB monitor into it, or an RGB to VGA adaptor and use a standard PC monitor. If this is a slot load without Firewire ports, then you are out of luck on easy fixes. You can always look into the "Rev E ATX" hack (do a google search on that term to see how to do it) -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
