Dan, Dan, Dan, you are very missinformed. I have OWNED (and still
own) thousands of copyrighted works in my lifetime and millions of
people have also owned copyrighted works for hundreds of years.
But note that the licensing terms are variable. Apple can change
them at any time, and already has (twice?). Unlike a commercially
purchased CD (unexpiring unchanging license), if Apple changes the
terms to say your downloaded tracks die next month, voila - thou
becomest a pirate. scam scam scam.
Yes, Apple can change the terms but the terms could only apply to
purchases AFTER the change. To say otherwise is the same as saying
that since Ford had charged you $10,000 for your Mustang years ago,
but now charges $30,000, you cannot drive the Mustang until you pony
up the extra $20,000. Very far fetched of course because Ford doesn't
consider the sale of a Mustang as transferring a license to use it,
but as a transfer of ownership.
