Hi All -
I should know, but I don't. Can any of you recommend a good hard drive for a G3 slot loader? I received an email asking for help, but I don't know anything specific. Any advice would be greatly appreciated by myself and the person who emailed me.

Thanks in advance -
Kyle-

Almost any IDE hard drive, up to 120 GB, will work just fine. (The iMac won't "see" anything bigger than 137 GB internally, though you can install a larger hard drive.) Our local Staples store is selling a 120 GB Maxtor, 7200 rpm, 8 MB cache, for $59.94 this week. You can get similar buys on smaller or larger hard drives in the range of 50 cents to $1 per gigabyte by shopping around. I'm running a 60 GB 7200 rpm Maxtor in a G3/400 iMac converted to G4/550 and the computer is so quiet that I can hear the discs spinning and occasional very faint electronic beeps as the hard drive does its stuff. Its the quietest computer I've got. My new iMac G5 has a 250 GB serial ATA Maxtor and it's even quieter. My experience with a lot of Maxtors has been very good. YMMV. HTH.
