Has anyone upgraded to tiger on a Blueberry 350 imac? Apple's website
says that firewire
is a requirement for Tiger, but then lists slot loading imacs as
upgradeable. The
blueberry 350 is slot loading, but without firewire.
Apple lists "Firewire" as a requirement not because Tiger actually
needs firewire, but because only Macs with on-board Firewire have the
ROM data necessary to install Tiger.
So no, the installer discs will not work on your machine.
There is a way around this -- a program called xPostFacto that will
probably allow you to install Tiger on that machine.
HOWEVER:
It will probably end up a fairly unsatisfactory experience. The
writing is on the wall: time to get a new(er) machine.

Yes, except in the case of the 350. It has the same ROM. The same.
Exactly. The same firmware (4.1.9) as all the other slot loaders. The
tray loaders need Xpostfacto, but they are completely different than
the slot loaders, and have a different ROM.
Here are three people who have done it.
