It is a copy of the retail version set. CD one of the original set was damaged at some point, good I had backed it up prior to this. I have used this copy on a wide range of powerbooks with no problem. I can only assume the iMac does not like copies??? I use this CD to startup macs (mostly G3 powerbooks and iBooks) in emergency cases and it has never let me down. > > I also tried more recent CDs from a flat screen iMac and an iBook G4, > > but these are auto-ejected without > > even being mounted. > > Those disks are most likely DVDs; the iMac has a CD-only drive. they are actually CDs, yet they do not mount and are spit out. I had firstly thought about a possible master/slave issue on the CD drive, but as the original OS9 disc boots fine, it can't be the case. I was hoping that the fact that both the 9.2.2 disc and the OS X installer appear in the startup disc cp and at opt-startup, but is only grayed, could be known symptom with a possible work-around. But, as you said, it might just be that I'm out of luck and the iMac doe not like these discs :( thanks for the help anyway. cheers, gianfranco -- 10 GB Mailbox, 100 FreeSMS/Monat http://www.gmx.net/de/go/topmail +++ GMX - die erste Adresse für Mail, Message, More +++ -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
