I just got another imac DV 400, blue which I purchased used online. Having
trouble with clock/date that keep going back to 1904, and time goes to
anytime whenever I startup? battery problem?

Exactly. Not enough juice in the battery to keep the date set in the PRAM.

Curiously, Help says check battery levels in control strip- and it's not there, but icon does appear in CS folder. When I click on icon it tells to " to be functional it must be in CS folder, which it already is??

hum. That's for the rechargable main battery, such as in a PowerBook. Not a PRAM battery.

This is my first time asking question here. is this correct email to do so?

Yup.
