That makes sense.  Now that I think about it, the 6360 that I
mentioned needed to have its PRAM battery replaced about 4-6 months
later anyhow, so that would fit in with this theory.

Definitely not a good thing.  The more I think about it, I'm fairly
certain that the "resurrections" I witnessed were on non-Apple
computers.
