It's a giant download. Any sort of telecom glitch will end it prematurely.
Do you have enough free space on your HD to hold it?
Safari should offer the ability to resume it... Look in its
Downloads window. If the download was interrupted, an
arrow/resume icon should appear on the right side. Click that
and it will resume.
Another option is to use the Unix tool "curl", from
Terminal. In Terminal, paste this command in:
curl -LO
http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OS_X/downloads/061-9756.20101110.Myjo5/MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.5.dmg
Careful -- that's all one line and is case sensitive. You
can interrupt the download by hitting ^C (control c). You can
resume the download simply by repeating the command (just hit the
up-arrow to get it back, no need to re-copy and paste).
You can learn more about curl by issuing the command "man
curl".
