If you don't have too many computers to set this up for, just add an entry in the hosts file, the os will use that value before the DNS, or if you have an internal only DNS, put the internal IP there.

KWM can only be told to look one place for the images...right? So how can my internal boxes know where to go to get the images? Would an entry in the host file on each box work?
