I have seen and identified part of a problem that sounds familar to this.
In my case, when using Microsofts Internet Mail client, I would see it
download the message, but it would never be displayed in the client.
Although, it did actually retrieve and delete it from the server.
What I determined was that if there were two blank lines at the end of the
message and that the message included a mime attachment, this would happen.
If I send a message to the server and attempt to retrieve it with Internet
mail, I will see it retrieve but not display. Yet if I send the message to
the server, then go into the main.mbx and delete the last crlf, then
retrieve the message, Internet Mail will retrieve and display it.
The "workaround" fix was to install Outlook Express as that handles this
condition properly.
