I think your missing the point. The content would be changing based on the
email address it's being sent to by the list server. I really don't think
our customers would want to write a custom letter to each person.
Say they send out a mailing, using your methods, they send it through their
shell script and then on to the imail list server. Now 10,000 customers get
a letter with the opening line "Dear John Doe", regardless of what their
name is. :)
