First you will need to know who your DNS provider is.
If your ISP is handling your DNS then you need to coordinate
this with them. If you are handling your own DNS then you
need to be able to locate your DNS zone files. If you are running
MS DNS this will be under administrative tools | dns manager.
If running BIND, then it will depend on the install location.
DNS is a very complex thing but it is crucial for operations.
Especially for mail administrators. I would suggest picking up
some good books on the subject. O'Reilly has some good ones
for both MS DNS and Bind DNS.
