Using Windows NT 4, IIS 4, Service Pack 5, IMail 5.05 we
are experiencing the following problem:
Sending mails is only possible with all ports opened. If the
security filters are activated and some ports are closed, no mails can be send -
they are all queued.
We have opened all standard ports under TCP and
UDP;
IP ports are all opened.
Opened are: 21, 25, 42, 53, 80, 99, 106, 110, 135, 139, 143,
161, 162, 389 and approx. 20 "free" ports, which we have taken from the syslogs
generated by IMail.
Name Server and security options appear to be
correct.
Upon restarting the server we receive the message: "server
started on port 106 and 25", and the server tries to connect via several other
ports to send the mails. Somentimes he choses one of the opened ports, but at
the same time the tries those ports which are not opened. The result is that -
if we are lucky - he succeeds in sending one mail - the rest stays
queued.
Does anybody know whether there are other standard ports
necessary for the IMail server???
Thanks in advance,
Ina
