Hi Everyone,

Please point me to the proper web resources on this if possible; I'm pressed
for time and am not sure how to troubleshoot this issue.

Basic info:

iMail 7.15 running on Windows 2003 Server
mxGuard with ClamAV for virus and spam filtering
Has been running very well for the past two years
Server utilization appears fine; memory ok and CPU cycles generally low for
iMail services
Not running IMAP - webmail, pop3 and smtp/mxGuard only
We were configured to send outgoing mail via an outsourced smarthost, but
are currently configured to deliver outbound mail directly

Over the past few days, the number of T and D files in the spool have been
slowly building up, and we've had some complaints from users that they are
not getting some messages from external domains. My research shows that a
"T" file is "A file that matches the data file while the message is inbound;
when the message is fully received, the T file is renamed with a Q."

So it would appear that messages are "starting" to come in, and not being
turned around to Q files for final delivery.

When researching one particular email that was not received, it appeared
that the transaction with the sending server had started but never
completed:

20050823 002228 127.0.0.1 SMTPD (0ED80098) [24.28.200.156] EHLO

20050823 002228 127.0.0.1 SMTPD (0ED80098) [24.28.200.156] RCPT
To:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

After this, there is no more lines involving 0ED80098 or 24.28.200.156 until
it seems to try again.

Though difficult sometimes, I am usually able to track the log lines from
the initial EHLO through to final delivery or failure, but I'm wondering if
I've just lost those brain cells or something. I'm just not sure how to
troubleshoot this, nor am I certain how to get the existing mail in the
spool to go to final delivery.

When I try to open a T file in notepad or wordpad, the system tells me that
the file is in use by another process. Rebooting has not seemed to help,
though I have not tried today. If I can get these apparently-undelivered
messages to go through, I would very much like to do so... Then, work on
figuring out what's going on to stop this madness. :)

Where should I go next in this troubleshooting process?

Thanks for your time!

Marc
