Yes, this is true. We worked a lot with open source software in the last month. Sometimes we used a lot of time to find correct manuals, updates, or even help.
Now i say "free is not always cheaper".
Regarding the # installation limits of Ipswitch: This "trap" should be better declared somewhere. The best location might be on the paper of the serial key.
This would legalize this limitations, in some countries limitations like this must be declared. If not, it's illegal. This issue has already reported to Ipswitch.
Maybe for IMail the limit should increased from two to three. Most of us are testing the products first before a rollout to the products occurs. So, the maximum is reached.
After a year, maybe the server crashes and has to be reinstalled. A this stage, an admin is in more serious troubles and has not time to mess around for a new activation;-)

Why do people who run Windoz Server jump through these useless hoops? You know the pirates are never affected much by this, but the valued customers get crapped on. What happens if the company that can't decide what to do decides to stop running their activation server for the software you own? I switched two years ago to QmailToaster, steeper learning curve but couldn't resist the price seeing how I service 15,000 mailboxes. Once you see the light you stop bending over for these idiot companies that force activation, force expensive upgrades, eliminate your product, etc. Tucows also has an excellent outsourced hosted e-mail service that is very affordable. I actually use that for mail.phatmacs.com.
