Ditto!

After weeks of involvement it seems obvious that this was a move of desperation by Ipswitch. After pulling off a stunt like this one I'm betting they were on the verge of shutting down. This may keep them going for a while, but to ruin your reputation on an obviously slapped together, not ready for prime time product like Imail 2006 is very foolish. I think they've put more than a few nails in their coffin with this one.

To all others on the fence: All kidding aside... Imail 2006 is not a viable product for a production server. If you want to have a development toy then that's a different story, but if your business depends on a working mail server you need to look elsewhere.

This is serious business and it's my feeling that Ipswitch has put my business at peril with a defective product.

Not to start another bitching thread but this is pretty bad.
2006 is obviously not ready for release.

I feel deceived by Ipswitch.
When I was told that 2006 would be out November 28 I had already planned to go to Smartermail but seeing Ipswitch getting their version out first we did pay for a service contract.

Now its obvious that Ipswitch knew that many of us would have left if Smartermail released first - so they released a product they well knew was not ready.

My concern now is the reported web mail performance issue.
Will this be addressed in the next release?

Hi Travis,
We are currently in the early stages of an update for IMail 2006.1 and public contacts is on the list (and currently being worked on). When finished, it will be part of the core/base IMail web messaging templates. Based on feedback, will also be looking at other parity items like Print and links to Web Calendar.
Release date is not set but planned to be in Jan/Feb or so months.
Bye for now,
kg

The answer is no – got that from tech support. Each user will have
to be added in manually or appended to their existing address book.

Has anyone written a script to pull these from the CGI file and
add it to the Access DB or Aliases.txt file for each user?

Does this cover the common address book? What am I missing to get
these to show up as well?

It should have been run by the install but we have seen instances
where it is not for some reason. You can manually run it.

    Hi,

Is it correct, that i have to convert the contacts with the
    command line tool "

wgscvt.exe ", if i install a new IMail 2006 server and do the
    usual backup/restore stuff?

Yeah, I figured it was required as it wasn't before and have done
that for a few people but we have over 25,000 email accounts so I
would rather not do this manually. I think this is something that
needs to come out ASAP since it's a big issue.

    Thanks,

    Bill

We're working on this issue for the next release. If you add names
to those users in the alias.txt file you can rerun the wgscvt program.

Just an FYI that the contacts conversion requires a name along
with an email address to be imported. Just spoke with a client
that swore she had 50+ contacts and only has 3 now. A quick check
of the alias.txt file reveals that she had no names associated
    with the emails.
