Actually it already does this. When the queue manager shuts itself
down, SMTPD will restart it within two minutes (if you have the
auto-restart option on). The queue manager looks for locked files
(files that were in process of delivery), renames them, and drops an
error count line in the Q file. If this happens to a file five times,
the file is orphaned and a message is sent to the administrator about
the problem.
