Just to play devils advocate here... Ipswitch would have to do this based on who registered serials for IM2006. For example we renewed our SA but based on watching this forum I have avoided IM2006 like the plague. I almost did the upgrade this past weekend then decided to not do it at the last minute due to some other issues. Glad I didn't now. The server we have this running on runs fine w/ 8.21 but based on the feedback I don't expect it to handle 2006 very well performance wise.

Anyway my original point is we bought our SA to support 8.21 and eventually upgrade to 2006 if/when it seemed prudent. Not that I'd mind getting an extension on the SA but to be honest it would't really apply to everyone. I do agree though that the early-tormenters (isnt that supposed to be adopters?) might be due some compensation.

This is what I would like to see as well in terms of something from Ipswitch – for two reasons – first because it would be right for the company to say ok folks we will begin your s/a’s from the date we get it working right – and everyone would agree things worked right and second I believe Ipswitch will move a lot faster if there on the hook for extended s/a’s…

Subject: [IMail Forum] SA offer from Kevin

As far as running 2006 "early" I have to respond with the fact that software should function as sold and we shouldn't have to be a complete release behind. In some cases we can't be due to security issues.

Since Imail was supposed to be untouched in terms of pop and smtp we were less concerned about it causing us problems. Everything outside of web messaging functions well enough except for smtpd running up to a now record high of 750 MB's of ram. Not a problem since we have plenty in the server but still a cause for concern.

At the time, I felt it was a fair offer from Kevin to add the additional 3 months onto the SA if we were to purchase it in advance. We've has so many complaints about web messaging speed that it's ridiculous.

I really think those of us that bought SA's should receive another extension up to whatever release actually fixes all the problems with 2006.
