It can be argued that software developers might have a certain moral interest in patching their software if the vulnerability can be used to hurt others. Windows 95 is pretty long in tooth, and few systems are still running on Windows 95. Imail 8.x on the other hand is not even comparatively old to Windows 2000, and a great number of servers are still running that version of software. The real question is when is that line drawn in the sand. When should a product no longer be supported for patches? Ipswitch says it's as soon as a new version comes out.
