MessageLook in the MX section of the DNS Stuff report. That will tell you what host(s) are listed for MX. Then, if the hosts are in the same domain, make sure you have the specified hosts as A records. If they are not in the same domain, then most likely you'll need to change the MX records to use hosts in one of your domains.

This zone has already been set up on a different server, not by me. I guess what I'm asking is, how do I see what MX and A records are actually on the zone file? This is why I was asking about DNSstuff. We are only talking about 3 or 4 records, 1 MX record and a few A records -----Original Message----- From: Darin Cox [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2007 10:24 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] OT: DNS transfer Hi Sharyn, If you set up your zone as a secondary and they will allow you to pull the zone, then you can receive it that way, and switch the zone back to primary once you have it. If not, you can ask them to send it to you. Otherwise, the only way to do it is to create it from scratch (or by copying another of your zone files and changing as appropriate) or use whatever GUI provided for the DNS server you run. Unless you are concerned about records you would not see from dig, you can quickly and easily set it up from scratch or by using one of your other domains as a template. I'm taking over the hosting of email and DNS for the domain Ibrandsinc.com. Up until now, I've only created a zone from scratch. I'm trying to set up their zone on my nameserver. At the moment, all I want to do is duplicate the existing zone. What is the best way to get a copy of the zone file? I don't plan on changing anything until the internet knows that my nameserver is their primary one now. If I run a dnsstuff report on Ibrandsinc.com, it looks like all the zone info is there. Is this all I need? Obviously I have to make the nameserver change with the registar but I don't want to do that until I have the zone set up on my server. Is there a way to actually get a copy of the zone file itself, directly from the nameserver? TIA! Sharyn
