I would advise anyone who is considering any product associated with Yahoo
to be VERY careful.

Yahoo is, essentially, now controlled by AT&T. Long before AT&T started
purchasing up all of the "baby bells", SBC partnered with Yahoo to provide
exclusive web content to all of the SBCGLOBAL.COM e-mail customers. With
the advent of AT&T being purchased by Ed Whitaker's SBC - who now owns all
but one of the original baby bells, Yahoo is now essentially a part of AT&T
and they LOVE to raise the cost of doing business with them. In the past 2
years they have doubled the cost of business telephone services in Illinois
and, on 4 September, doubled the cost of local long-distance services for
all business customers whose contracts expired beginning with that date
forward.

Remember, Randall L Stephenson may be the chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of AT&T, but it's really Ed Whitaker, Chairman and CEO of SBC
California now, who pulls the strings - the same Ed Whitacre who promised
that SBC would not raise rates or remove jobs from Illiinois when they took
over Ameritech after the initial divestiture of what was Illinois Bell from
AT&T in 1983. Because of Whitaker's past broken promises here in Illinois,
I have made it a habit to avoid doing business with any of his companies.
The net result is that I have saved both our company, and our customers,
hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past 5 years by doing so.

It pays to Google any company now, BEFORE doing business with them, and see
who really owns them and see what you can learn about how they have treated
their customers in the process of the takeovers and acquisitions. By doing
a Google BEFORE purchasing a product or service, you can save yourself
countless hundreds of hours worth of headaches caused by poor customer
service and thousands of dollars in fees for service charges in the future.

Given all of the acquisitions and mergers that have taken place in the US,
it's once again a "buyer beware" atmosphere.

I was also interested in Zimbra, due to their association with Red Hat, but
now I am wondering how their acquisition by Yahoo will affect the product
and pricing structure. Although we are pretty much a Windows environment, I
am somewhat apprehensive about managing an Exchange Server. Can anyone
comment on how difficult that is?
