Yep, I think that's the case. O2K will allow you to set up Internet email
services, but considers those to be pop3. But the bit about checking Leave
Mail On the Server does apply. And I think the mess about setting it up for
Corporate mode is why my own client is using pop3 instead of imap. Some day
I'll try changing it, but not before summer...

Then all my users are setup with Outlook 2000 as POP3 but my IMail server is
setup with IMAP service running. Is this basically not doing anything? I
didn't think I had to switch the Outlook 2000 client to a
Corporate/Workgroup mode like when it's accessing Exchange in order to do
this. I just checked the mail support settings within Outlook 2000 and
setting it up as an "Internet Only" mode...it does support POP3, SMTP, and
IMAP...go figure?

In Outlook 2000, if the account is setup as IMAP, the options "Leave copy of
message on server" is NOT present. That option is only present if the
account was setup as "POP3" in Outlook 2000.
I am running outlook 2000, and it does not appear to have the "auto-purge"
feature for IMAP folders. Outlook Express 5 does have it. Outlook 2000 has
an option buried in the options menus that says "Empty the deleted items
folder when exiting", but I do not believe that effects IMAP folders. But to
be safe, leave it unchecked.
