Hi David,

Why don't you set up support@xxxx  to be an alias to your 8 staff and make
sure when they respond they cc the support alias, thereby letting the team
know that the message has been responded to and also having some
accountability for support questions. You can also decide to make the reply
to address the support alias so that if a member of the support team is
unavailable your customers can send an email and get a response.

It's definitely not a silly question as it is one that most support
operations should think about.
