It's S-DSL, so 144 both ways.  and the "so long" means it is taking hours
for the 100K messages...  I'm 99.9% sure that the problem (is there indeed
is one) is not with her connection to us...

yes, would be my guess.  When an SMTPD accepts a msg, it must accept the 
whole msg, with the final handshake, and write the whole msg to disk before 
ack the sender.

I don't know, but 144 (A)DSL is 144 down but how much up? usually much 
smaller, maybe only 33.

How long is 'so long'.  how many bits/sec upload speed does she have for 
the 150 kbytes? 150 kbytes / 3 kytes/sec = 50 secs.
