[IMail Forum] Disappearing messages

I am  on IMail 5.08 and noticed something strange. The summary shows 21 messages (3 new) but displays only 1 message. Read mail was able to open the three new messages and showed error for the rest. I tried transferring all the messages to a "temp" box  and managed to retrieve 12 out of the 21. Rest appear to be lost beyond retrieval.   Has anyone experienced this? Would appreciate any suggestion / clues.   Thanks Ganesh
