Kory,
If you (or someone there) has modified the Web Templates, yes, there will be
some work needed. Big changes in Web MSG allow for further customisation
that one could not do in the V5.0 stuff. But there are now some other
choices, too. We offer several templates and so do others. At least one
person is selling a pretty good set for short money (most less than $100!).
By all means look into them (and I pretty sure you will hear more, right
here!).
I don't know what 'issues' other than above, might affect you, so I cannot
say that the migration will be completly without trouble. Best to define
your current situation/configuration and make a plan to look at it (I'm sure
the forum members will be happy to comment!) and see what needs to be
addressed and then find the way to do it. Just thought of another possible
'gotcha' and that could be the use of external database. This is not a big
problem (table format changed, as has dll IMail uses), but again this can be
resolved.
So you also had some problems with patch files. Most of those can be resolved
and should not pose any real problems. That will not present any problem
once you have the Service Agreement. You will have access to full installs
and that should take care of those kinds of problems (which are not all that
often).
As for another mail server, don't forget that IMail can still work with it
and provide features your users may need. Too bad it took so long to get to
the S/A as you might have be enjoying and using them for the past year.
I leave the upgrade questions (issues) for others to comment upon. I cannot
see any reason for the 5.0x upgrades on the way up to 6.05. A simple install
is enough for 99% of the people and yes, a reboot will likely be needed.
Total time estimated average, 10 minutes. Of course, preparation and backup
(always recommended!) will take much longer than this.
Daniel Donnelly
