I recently began using Imail to send out SMS text messages to large groups
of pagers. The pagers are accessed via device email address, all of them
pagenet.net. I'm addressing the mass email to myself and BCCing the pagers
at 250 addresses per email.
Queuing happens quickly enough, only takes about 17 seconds for 1000
addresses. The problem is that the emails just sit there...doing nothing
for anywhere from 1 to 3 hours! After the lag time they send just fine.
I'd suspect pagenet's end, but I could find no connection attempts or
rejections to pagenet in the logs between the queuing and the sending an
hour later. As far troubleshooting goes, I've increased available SMTP
connections, shortened the queue timer to 10 minutes, and tried sending to
more and fewer addresses per email. Below I've included part of the log
from one attempt (I realize line length will screw up the formatting of the
log clip, sorry).
Anyone have any idea what causes this lag time?
