Although technically the name of the computer should match the domain name, in reality 
it doesn't need to.  But, it wouldn't be a good idea to call it just "mailserver" (as 
opposed to mailserver.your_domain.com).

Yes.  Your firewall should have no problem translating the real IP address to your 
local private IP address.
