It's probably because the mailboxes are being re-indexed. The format of
the index files for the mailboxes has changed in 7.0, and they have to be
re-indexed before they are used the first time. This can take quite some
time if they have a lot of messages somewhere (such as a deleted/sent
folder). But, this should only happen the first time they access their
mail after the upgrade, and not after that.
